RBI New Guidelines 2025 : Currently, there are seven denominations of currency notes- Rs.10, Rs.20, Rs.50, Rs.100, Rs.200, and Rs.500 and these keep circulating in the market and the Reserve Bank of India i.e. RBI and the government keep notifying from time to time for updates regarding the currencies. Recently, RBI has issued guidelines for 100 and 500 rupee notes. Not so very important to all, but here are the details in the news below-
Whether a new note is being issued in the country or some note is to be discontinued, the decision is jointly taken by the Government of India and RBI. Recently, RBI has made an announcement of new Rs.50 notes which will be signed by the newly appointed governor USD. Meanwhile, guidelines on 100 and 500 rupees notes have also been issued by the RBI. In fact, in the last few years, the business of fake notes has increased dramatically in the market. The common man is falling victim to them. Under such circumstances, it will not be too wrong to say that fake notes or currencies are a kind of a termite that hurts not only a particular person but also the economy of the country.
In the currency system, there are notes ranging from Rs 10 to Rs 500. But of all these notes, 100 rupee notes are used most. More often than not, 100 will be withdrawn from the purse when fulfilling one of many daily needs. But know that fake 100 rupee notes are most popular in circulation during this time. The situation demands that one knows how to identify real from false notes.
Now suppose you went to the market and handed a 500 rupee note to a vendor or shopkeeper for payment. The vendor returned 100 rupees to you, and if that note given back is a counterfeit, then in that case, you could be at a great loss to the tune of 400 rupees. Therefore, this section deals with understanding the difference between a real and a fake note. The RBI has come up with certain action points that would aid you in that.
Watermark And Design
The RBI mentions that the genuine 100 rupee note should bear a floral design near the vertical band which is exactly opposite the watermark. Mahatma Gandhi’s photo is embossed there, wherein a numeral ‘100’ appears in the watermark area. This design is considered to be the identity of the original note. You will not find these designs on counterfeit notes.
Security Thread
The next factor is the security thread against which you can judge the genuine note (Identification of genuine and fake notes). In fact, on the original issue of a 100 rupee note, ‘India’ and ‘RBI’ are written on the security thread. This security thread is designed in such a way that it changes color from blue to green when viewed at different angles. Therefore, the color-changing security thread marks the presence of a real note. All these things are not applicable for a counterfeit note.
You Can Identify A Real Note By Words
A real rupee note of 100 has 100 and RBI inscribed between the vertical band and photo of Mahatma Gandhi. This tells us about their fixed position in the note, through which real and fake notes can be easily distinguished from each other.
Identification Of Real And Fake 500 Notes
Not only are hundreds of notes in their fake self, but even their five-hundred competitors are present in the market. To end the racket of these fake notes, RBI has taken drastic measures many times, like in 2023 in banning the 2 thousand rupee note. But the flood of fake notes in the market does not seem to reduce today. Hence, you should definitely learn the difference between fake notes and real notes if you do not want to experience any greater loss.
Identifying A Real 500 Rupee Note
It was discovered that the fake 500-rupee notes going around in the market these days have false spellings of RBI i.e. Reserve Bank of India. All notes have RESERVE BANK OF INDIA on them in English, but the fake one goes this way: RASERVE BANK OF INDIA. So every time you receive a 500 rupee note from someone, do not just check the design or Mahatma Gandhi’s image and watermark. Also, check the spelling and handwriting of Reserve Bank and other words carefully.
