News relating to DA is expected to be of utmost importance to all central employees today. Good news is in store for central employees and pensioners before Holi this year. Holi this time is on 14 March 2025, and just before that, there are chances for DA to be announced. The said DA increase will lead to an increase in pay and also benefit pensioners. The DA under the 7th Pay Commission increases twice a year in January and July, and the first increase may be announced in March 2025, although nothing has been declared in this regard till now.
Increment In Salary Due To An Increase In DA Will Be As Follows-
As per employee organizations, this time DA can increase by 3 to 4 percent. This means an increase in the salary of the employees between Rs 540 and Rs 720 per month. Assuming an employee’s basic monthly salary is Rs 18,000. The employee is entitled to 50 percent of that being DA, which is Rs 9,000, and if DA is now increased at 3 percent, it shall be Rs 9,540- i.e., an increase of Rs 540. In case of the 4 percent increase, it will be Rs 9,720, thus an increment of Rs 720.
Pensioners Will Also Be Benefited.
DA is paid to government employees, whereas pensioners are entitled to Dearness relief. More than 1 crore government employees and pensioners will benefit from the increase.
How Much Was The Increase Last Year?
In October 2024, the government raised DA by 3 percent from 50% to 53%. Earlier, the 4% hike in DA was made in March 2024.
How Is DA Determined?
The dearness allowance is determined on the basis of the All India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). The government determines rates of the DA and DRM based on average AICPI data for the last 12 months.
Last DA Increase Before The 8th Pay Commission
The 8th Pay Commission may come into effect by 2026, and before that, there are likely to be more two increments in DA under the 7th Pay Commission, which will be a good boost for the monthly salary of the employees.
