Listening to the beneficiaries of the Older Person Grant and SASSA, who pay aged people on every first working day of the month, meant that this payment was one of the few available means for monetary support for the elderly people in South Africa. The grant offered cash for these needy but expensive old men and women for a little bit of service. The Month When SASSA Older Persons’ Grant Beneficiaries Will Be Paid In 2025

SASSA guarantees that funds are transferred timely to the beneficiaries; accordingly, the Older Person’s Grant will be rolled out monthly on the first working day of every month. January 2025, therefore, is set to be:  

  • January 2025: 3rd January  
  • February 2025: 2nd February  
  • March 2025: 5th March  

Beneficiaries can withdraw cash from any outlet using ATMs, Post Offices, and selected retail partners that include Pick n Pay, Shoprite, Boxer, and Checkers.  

Conditions To Qualify For The SASSA Old Age Grant 

Besides the above set of requirements, should the applicants in 2025 qualify for any kind of age grant:  

  • Be a South African citizen, permanent resident, or refugee and reside in South Africa;  
  • Must be at least sixty years of age on the date of application;  
  • May not be receiving any other social grant on his or her behalf;  
  • Not in the role of caring for a person of institutionalized status.  
  • Should pass the means test as far as income and assets are concerned.  

How To Apply For The SASSA Older Person’s Grant

Application for this grant is fast in-person or online.  

1. Apply in Person at a SASSA Office:

  • Go to your nearest SASSA office with your South African ID.  
  • Fill in the application form (this is also available at SASSA offices).  
  • Provide evidence of income, assets, and marital status where applicable.  
  • A SASSA official will then capture your biometric information.  

2. Apply Online Via the SASSA Website:

  • Registration must go online at [www.sassa.gov.za](https://www.sassa.gov.za/).
  • Complete the Older Person’s Grant application.  
  • Upload all relevant documents to finalize your application.

Applicants may check online for grant statuses:

  • Enter the ID number and registered phone number.  
  • Press “Check Status” to see the application’s status.
